This course is an introduction to the features of the Unix/Linux operating system including text editing, text file manipulation, electronic mail, Internet utilities, directory structures, input/output handling, and shell features.

Footnote InformationCIS -018A-01Y: HYBRID, meets on-campus and online. This class meets each week on-campus and online as noted in the class listing. This class requires an on-campus midterm and final exam. The midterm is during lecture time, and the final exam date is Monday, 12/6/21, from 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., room TBD. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests.
