Professional Enrichment Certificates

What are Professional Enrichment Certificates?
Professional Enrichment Certificates are comprised solely of online courses. While no formal academic credit will be granted for students pursuing a certificate, each program represents a concentrated course of study in a specific field.

How do I get started?
In order to begin, students simply need to determine the program they are interested in and enroll in the required classes. Students do not need to notify our office, unless they have a specific question prior to beginning. All students are encouraged to review the course descriptions to ensure they are aware of all requirements.

Will I receive any academic credit for these online courses?
No, students will not receive any academic credit for the courses they complete. Courses will not appear on any official academic transcript; however, in order to pass each course, students need to score at least 70% on the final exam.

How do I obtain a certificate?
Upon completing the required courses, students simply need to notify our Community Education office by email (shortcourses@fhda.edu). In the email, students will need to state what program they have completed and list the courses they have finished. Once our office receives this information, we will check our records and issue a certificate to your address on file.

Will you honor courses previously taken?
Yes, any course successfully completed in 2008/2009 in any approved certificate program may be applied to the certificate requirements.

Will I be able to substitute a course?
Yes, because many courses are technical in nature and new versions are updated regularly, students may substitute a course, when appropriate. Please notify our office for approval BEFORE substituting a course.

Will I be able to create my own certificate?
Yes, at times, we do allow students to create a specific course of study based on their needs. Any new course sequence MUST be made up of at least (4) courses and be approved by our office prior to beginning.
